Product information
Glutathione is built from three building blocks: glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine. Three of them, which is why it is called a tripeptide. The body makes it itself, mainly in the liver. What stands out is how the building blocks are attached: not at the end, as in most peptides, but at the side of the first one.
Inside cells, substances that can cause damage are formed all the time. Glutathione is what clears them away. One spot on the molecule does that work: a sulphur group in the middle. After such a reaction that spot is occupied for a while, until the cell frees it up again. In the literature glutathione is known as the most abundant antioxidant in the cell.
