Product information
Pinealon consists of three amino acids: glutamic acid, aspartic acid and arginine. Three building blocks, which is why it is called a tripeptide. In single-letter notation those are E, D and R, and that is how you also come across it: as EDR.
Size is the whole point here. Most peptides are too large to enter a cell and stay on the outside, at a receptor. A chain of three does fit through the cell membrane and reaches the cell nucleus. In the literature, that is exactly what short peptides like this are about: they attach to certain stretches of DNA, at the spot that determines whether a gene is read.
