ACE-031 is not a peptide but a fusion protein. It consists of the outer part of the activin receptor type IIB, linked to the Fc portion of human IgG1, and occurs as a dimer. In the literature the compound also carries the name ramatercept.
Research into ACE-031 concerns the ligands of that receptor, among them myostatin and activin A. Because the free receptor fragment captures those proteins before they reach the receptor, the compound has been studied in animal research and in a clinical trial in Duchenne in connection with muscle mass. It appears on the prohibited list of the World Anti-Doping Agency and is not registered as a medicine anywhere.
