Tesamorelin is a synthetic peptide derived from human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). It contains all 44 amino acids of GHRH, with a trans-3-hexenoyl group at the N-terminus. In the literature it is also known by the research code TH-9507 and the brand name Egrifta.
Research into tesamorelin concerns the growth hormone and IGF-1 axis. As a GHRH analogue, the substance has been studied in relation to the release of growth hormone by the pituitary. A large part of the literature also concerns visceral abdominal fat and fat metabolism.
